We are not stupid and we are not crazy ~ A

Bent or broken

I was asked why I allowed so much trauma to happen to me, I was told by this person that they would’ve fought if they had been through what I had.

It’s a mindset common to those who have had support, back up, lack of substantial trauma endured alone.

There’s a proverb, many versions are available, but here is one:

‘A reed before the wind lives on, while mighty oaks do fall’

I endured what I had to to survive – there were no armies behind me.

I made choices no one should have to make, because they were the ones available to me at the time.

Not everyone will understand your story, your choices, or your life, because they see the world colored by their own experiences.

Your trauma is valid. You did the best you could. I’m sorry for your suffering, I wish I could take it away.
