Theres a tendency in psychiatry to use “nice” terms to describe horrible things:
“Agitated patient was administered chemical sedative”
When what you mean is “Distressed and traumatized woman was tackled by 3 large men and injected with Haldol against her will while the whole hospital ward watched”.
This isn’t theoretical. I saw this happen on Horsham Clinic’s STAT unit during my time there.
It’s not ok.
If you’re going to torture people who are already suffering, at least have the decency to call a spade a spade.
