Rowing is a fairly small community – my family is (or was, back in the day) relatively well known.
But I think it bears repeating that Carol Whipple (my mother) was the only Colgan member to actually compete in the Olympics.
The brothers told her her accomplishments “didn’t count” because it was “easier to make the olympics as a woman than a man”.
