Laughs and Lobotomies

I tried for a year to get ssdi. I knew people who had gotten it with a knee injury – who could’ve answered a damn phone. Surely 13 years of psych treatment and 6 inpatient stays would be enough.

It wasn’t.

I worked through most of the nonsense of the past decade +.

I have my 40 work credits.

I gained 150 lbs in those years.

And despite how much pain I’m in daily, I can’t keep being gaslit. Being told what I endured wasn’t enough to qualify. Being forced to relive parts of my life I’d rather forget over and over and over.

I can’t. I’d rather work.

And unfortunately screaming my life story into the ether has yet to turn a profit.
