Kevin, do you know what flavors of ice cream Carol hates and why? And what kind she likes? I think you don’t.
I don’t have much of a relationship with my family anymore, but I remember.
Mom hates black cherry because her dad loved it and its all her mom ever bought and mint chocolate chip because it tastes like toothpaste.
I loved mint chocolate chip as a kid, especially the green kind, and every time I had it, if my mom was there, I’d make sure to say “mmmm toothpaste” so she heard it.
I asked to change schools in second grade – to go from private to public. I don’t remember anyone asking me why.
I overheard my parents arguing about money, and I knew public school was free, so I asked to change schools, hoping it would stop the arguments.
My mom loves tiger stripe and rocky road but they’re harder to find in “the states”.
I don’t think my dad ever met an ice cream he didn’t like. He’s finished a whole half gallon in one sitting on more than one occasion. Cookies, pies, and ice cream are his favorite desserts.
My partner likes coffee flavored ice cream despite not really liking coffee.
There was an ice cream shop in Port Dalhousie when I was a kid. Raspberry vanilla milkshakes from there were my favorite. I don’t think I’ve ordered one since, and I forgot how much I loved them. I sometimes get lattes with a pump of vanilla and a pump of raspberry. But I had forgotten why I loved that combination. and I can see the shop again in my mind’s eye – and it’s decorated in blue and white in jersey shore style, despite being in southern Canada. I forget the name.
