Why has bipolar gained such an explosive rise in diagnosis?
I have a theory.
Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa go off patent between 2001-2006.
SSRI generic market penetration in 2006: 57%
Abilify approved for Bipolar I disorder: 2004
It’s really hard to falsely diagnosis someone with schizophrenia. It’s a small market.
“Bipolar” shares features with ptsd and depression. The clinical screening tool is 10 vague questions.
