I remember a conversation with my mother last year. I remember she had mentioned paying for my adult brother’s hockey goalie equipment. I asked why they were still buying that, he was an adult, when they hadn’t helped me with medical bills, therapy, keeping my lights on. I had moved out but had been busting my ass working multiple jobs to cover my substantial medical that insurance didn’t. She bought me a $500 purse one Christmas but wouldn’t pay a utility bill.
But on that call, when I confronted her, she said, “Well, we didn’t ask for you to be this way”.
And my heart shattered.
I wish I’d had a mom like Gail, instead of Carol.
God bless the Gails of the world
