They say that tears are healing.
Whether in anger, sadness, or joy
Something is released from the body when we cry
On rainy days the whole world cries
And it isn’t just the tantrums and fits of thunder and lightning
Or the now saturated soil that can again bring life
It felt as if with me the whole world held its breath
I stopped breathing because how dare the sun shine on such sad days
And when the thunder rolled in and the skies let open and the heavens opened and the tears came down we cried together.
And I could breathe.
And I can smell the turned soil and see cherry trees and laughter and love and simple things in my future.
The rain and the fog and the moss covered stones.
We carry them.
The rain has always been more beautiful than the rainbow.
