We are not stupid and we are not crazy ~ A

No one ever asked

No one ever asked if I would’ve preferred to be drugged out of my mind or put in a facility the rest of my life but free.

Because the level of medication I was given is what is given to those who are hospitalized for life.

And I still worked.

I pushed through.

I lost my health, my mind.  They stole things I can never get back.

So if you had ever asked.

If I was such a danger to myself, or to others.

I would’ve preferred a padded room, alone,

Undrugged, with some books and paper and maybe some watercolor.

The kind you give to toddlers.

So they can’t eat it.

I would have preferred that to the life I was handed against my will.

But no one did.

It is cheaper to toss us out and call it mercy while stealing everything that makes us human.
