The small one. The one you threw out.
It was from 5th grade. My entire 5th grade class had made it together – we all signed it.
It was sold at the school auction.
I went with Dad.
I had to have it.
Mostly because Timmy sucked.
But also maybe I wanted a bookshelf. Over a hundred of us in that grade signed it.
Dad so we could bid. It was a silent auction.
He taught me how to win.
He said ok Kels, we will do this but we’re going to do it my way. Every amount they bid, we bid a dollar more and that’s it. Be patient.
The look on Timmy’s face when we won was great. But also it was a moment with dad.
I asked him for 20 years why he threw out that bookcase.
He never said it was you.
